After accepting your offer, the Academic Registry (TPG team) of HKBU will email all MAcc students with instructions on how to apply for a Hong Kong student visa. The application process will be centralized and handled through HKBU, and a visa application fee will be applicable. You are strongly advised to adhere to the visa application schedule strictly. Delays in visa applications may affect your ability to start your studies in Hong Kong on time.
Pre-core courses are designed to ensure that students' entry points match the knowledge and skills necessary for advanced study in accounting and to fulfill the competency requirements for admission to the HKICPA QP. We offer a total of seven pre-core courses, each priced at HK$5,000. For students who have a relevant degree or postgraduate study can apply for the exemptions from certain pre-core courses. It is important to note that only official documentation issued by the relevant awarding body will be considered for exemption requests. Please refer here for detailed exemption policies.
You can submit a plan for exemption from pre-core courses in the "Application for Exemption of Pre-core Course" section of the application portal. After confirming your offer acceptance, the Programme Office will email you to request an application for exemption from pre-core courses. Please follow the instructions and submit the detailed course outlines (including course content, teaching hours, assessment methods, etc.) along with your transcript by the deadline. Note that only official documents issued by your prior programme will be considered for exemption requests. The Programme Office will notify you of the result after reviewing your materials.
The pre-core courses will be scheduled approximately one and a half months before the regular study period begins. The Programme Office will provide detailed information about the course arrangement in June. You will be notified of the specific schedule and other relevant details by the Programme Office.
